Thursday, August 25, 2022 - Had PnP. Absolutely heroic nose, with loads of creme de cassis, explosive floral notes, scorched earth, cigar box and tilled soil. Reminded me of Napa's Las Piedras. Uber refined palate, with ripe, powerful and integrated tannins, a silky mouthfeel and wonderfully layered black and blue fruit. This is certainly opulent for Bordeaux, but it is so incredibly well done, with terrific balance and plenty of lift from the acidity. The elegance and refinement are off the charts, as is the ridiculously long finish. As one critic would say, this is pure Haute Couture. My general sense is either get at it right now without a decant, or wait 7+ years.

8/26/2022 8:55:00 AM - Without a doubt the most "napa like" BDX I have had. If it was blind on the aromas I would have never guessed BDX, but of course the palate gives it away with the tannin profile.

8/30/2022 11:53:00 AM - So this is where I get stalled on BDX. I had an 09 Chateau Malescot St Exupery Margaux and 10 Duhart-Milon over the weekend. The Malescot was essentially undrinkable and the DM was barely better. Just high toned, funky white peppery, boring juice. Not sure if that is what all these BDX wines will become in time, or if somehow things have just changed that much...or if despite good scores, those just are a totally different profile from the start?

8/30/2022 12:09:00 PM - Yep totally different profiles- and many of Bordeaux wines didn’t really focus on quality control until post 2010- many 2015+.

For example I love this wine but not before 2015/2016 or maybe even 2018.
