Monday, January 9, 2023 - Wow! This was a surprise - it is really good. Not as full bodied as I expected given the vintage and the tendency for some chateau to overproduce in the early 2000's. It has a lovely full weight in the mouth without being overdone, this is classic Bordeaux and has the elegance you would expect of Bordeaux. Dark fruits with some tertiary leather, good acidity. Real depth, length and complexity. Drinking now but really only beginning to drink well. Will last for many years. The 1996 Pontet is gorgeous and I think this will turn out to be just as good and maybe better.
