Thursday, February 17, 2011 - I think part of the mixed reviews are due in part by the fact that everyone has a different palate. That is why we all don’t eat the same foods.

To my palate this was OK but nothing special. It had a basic fruit profile but didn’t lean heavy towards either side (light or dark fruit). It was a nice pizza wine but surely not something I would rush out to purchase again.

On the nose it had that barnyard funk I love when first opened. A little musky with earthy tones. Anyone that has a sister remembers the smell of a perm blowing through the house followed by screams of I hate it. Well upon opening, that is the first thing I got. This quickly blew off. I think that is mixed with the barnyard funk that leaves in a hurry once opened for a brief stent.

If you leave your glass alone as I did, you can pick up subtle rose petals. But swirl it and it’s gone.

I have two more left. Time will tell.
