79 Points

Tuesday, July 5, 2011 - I'm really confused on this one. Not seeing Spectator's 94 or the "light," "thin," or "Burgundian" characteristics in previous reviews. This wine was very dark and nearly opaque, oaky, extracted, and a touch hot until day 2, when it mellowed out a little...pretty much the opposite of what I'm looking for in a Pinot. I would have guessed Grenache or Syrah blind. SO glad I picked up a bottle to try before throwing down on more while on special. Dodged a bullet there. I would say paired with beef or hearty pasta would be the way to go with this one.

8/11/2011 3:47:00 PM - Note that it's not WS who rated this a 94; it was WE. WS rated this one "only" a 87. Both WS and WE indicated that it needs time to develop, with both reviews being completed in 2009. Based on your experience I would conclude that the bottles I've got lying around would benefit from a bit more time in the cellar. Is that correct?
