Tuesday, December 15, 2015 - Prime of Life Dinner (Yan, National Gallery, Singapore): In an odd German Riesling magnum format, this bottle looked a bit like a baseball bat in its length and dimensions. The wine itself was a bit on the simple side, but it was otherwise pleasing enough. The nose showed telltale petroleum notes alongside sweeter aromas of apple flesh and then some lemon zest and a nice dose of chalky minerality. The palate came across very juicy and lemony at first, but then opened up into apples and a hint of white peach on the midpalate, with a little flesh peeking out from its bright acid frame. I found this to be very elegant and light on its feet; perhaps a touch simple, but good with food. It does need a more few years in the bottle though.
