2001 Château Chasse-Spleen

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Monday, May 18, 2020 - Decanted and consumed over two hours. Dark garnet red core with slight bricking at the rim. The nose is gorgeously aromatic with pencil shavings, licorice, camphor, black currants, wild berries, and campfire. The palate is similarly stunning with ripe earthy purple fruit, crisp acidity, and smooth sweet tannins. This wine is punching above its weight for sure with complex rich aromatics and flavors throughout. Such a surprising wine, this was an $18 purchase 15 years ago, a staggering value.
