  • Overall: high acid, tannins resolved, decent Bordeaux but does seem a bit thin overall at this point. Drank a 1995 last night that was better - fuller, more balanced, more complex and integrated, even though it was over the hill.

Appearance: medium garnet with earth tones and clearing at the rim, fairly translucent

Nose: opens with some funky earthy/mushroom, subtle leather, a bit of red fruit

Palate: medium body, resolved tannins, high perceived acid; bright red fruit comes through like raspberries and cherries, a touch of leather and maybe some smoke. Overall it’s integrated and nice but a bit simple. The acid really punches through and makes it hard to pick out individual flavors.

Finish: medium length, dry, mouthwatering, inoffensive

  • Still not developed too much tertiary - very tart berries and black cherries and fruit forward. Loads of acidity so still could be developing - 22 yrs old??
    Frankly it’s a bit disappointing……

  • 5/12, vg cork. Decanted 1/2 hour.
Deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Nose is quite developed, showing minerally, mainly black fruit, gravel, smoke. Medium bodied, mainly black fruits, gravel, smoke, touch of soil, soft tannins, fresh acidity carrying a good length, harmonious finish with some creamy red fruits coming through. Lovely, mature claret - now drinking well. should hold for a further 5-10 years.
