Saturday, October 3, 2020 - If you combine my earlier tasting note from Napa and Sean7711’s note, you have today’s experience. 9 hr decant. Still a wall of tannins holding this back. I could almost taste the oak. Acid, red and black fruit, touch of perfume. If you’re considering opening one in the name of science, don’t. Just wait 7-9 yrs. You’ll thank me only after you failed to heed this advice.

Cheers to a beautiful day in the H.

10/3/2020 3:49:00 PM - I did, thought 9 hrs might open it up. Wrong. Decided to put the bottle back in the cellar for a Flannery’s Jorge tomorrow night. Going with a ‘13 Bevan Two Dogs on a 30 min decant for the Tigers tonight. Cheers

10/4/2020 1:51:00 PM - Thanks, Also have a 3 pack of the 17’s coming and plan on opening one of those short term as the curiosity is killing me. And will continue to hold the 16’s.

More earthy notes appear, cedar, graphite, pencil shavings, black dirt, the fruit has also receded, though still picking up oak. Black fruit shows up on the swirl but is still otherwise hidden. Faint fruit notes and rare beef on the palate, one thing for sure is that I tried. Let your babies slumber. At this pace, the mags will be ready for my grandkids retirement.

10/4/2020 2:57:00 PM - Yes I plan on giving the 16’s 10 years. Shae said the 17’s would show better young. But yes I would still hold on opening one of those if necessary. Thanks again.
