Wednesday, June 23, 2021 - This showed up at the local Costco for $39, never had this producer, so I had to give it a spin. First off, I am a sucker for young, fairly inexpensive Barolo...love to put a little chill on it, enjoy the mouth puckering dryness...the tasty crunchy vibrant wild berry fruits...silky smooth sheen and florals...tight structure...all well knowing there "might" be more magic with age...but who cares, as it's damn tasty now! This Clerico totally fits the bill...bright cherry, pom, red plum fruits...med bodied and full of lacy pretties! Mouth puckering dry tannins...LOVE that...dusty sandalwood, cherry vanilla oak barrel...silky smooth polish...some complexities poking out of tilled citrus field, menthol tobacco, dried roses, tar...nice lift of blood orange acidity...balanced in a simple and easy drinking way. I totally dig this wine! And at this price point...great wine to pop n pour when in that young Barolo mood! Will be buying more to age out a few more years...and drink a few chilled by the pool!
