However after about 40 minutes, bottle being inertted, the fruit disappeared and was dominated by acids and tannins. Not sure whether I believe it would last as long as the drinking window suggests, but do think it has some life left.

6/23/2022 10:06:00 AM - Obviously we all like what we like, but FWIW, I find that with Brunellos in general and Altesinos specifically, they tend to drink OK for a year or so on release, then lock up tight for several years, before really hitting their stride around their 10th birthday, give or take a few years. Agree the 2037 end date may be a little optimistic, but in terms of life left, I'd guess it's pretty likely it won't even begin to approach peak for another 4+ years. (In fairness, I haven't opened any of my bottles of this yet, so it's just a guess.)

6/23/2022 4:16:00 PM - Thank you finlero. We have 1 bottle left and will heed your suggestion and wait a while before we open it up. For us it was an experience as we live on the west coast of the US and generally drink, WA, OR and CA wines.
