Thursday, May 26, 2022 - Mid ruby to bright crimson, the nose opens with savoury notes of polished leather, fly spray, tar that then reveals raspberry and morello cherry.
More medium weight on the entry, the wine has firm, leather-edged texture with a lively acidity, linear in palate shape with sour cherry, dried orange segments, chalk dust, tar and a ferruginous quality to it. The wine sits up and whilst the tannins are fine they protrude through the generous alcohol (14.5) and the wine stays linear to the finish without really opening up its secrets. At this stage, it shows a little firm and unyielding almost lacking a little flesh. Would like to see how it ages with the rest of the case and the tannins resolve further.
