Hmmm... third glass and I'm still not sure how to judge this Chianti ( with pizza on the table 🙂) Load of ripe red and black fruits counterweighted with punchy spice. Lively acidity, ripe, but very grainy tannins ( my music). Pretty long, fruity finish. In general my problem is that the wine is too sweet, but also not boring, is challenging and unique. The smell is so lovely. Ethereal, delicate, flowery with earth, smoke, minerals, forest, sweet spice and red fruits. 14.5% ABV - powerful, juicy wine. 100% Sangiovese

Fruity aromatics - ripe red berries forward. Very balanced, medium plus bodied, medium acid, well rounded. Soft tannins and a medium finish. Color is clean ruby, clear miniscus indicating it's youth.
Commentary: This pairs very well with a range of foods. Goat cheese and spinach salad. Beef or pork with Asian flavors. Even some saltier a sea food dishes.

This is drinking so nicely now, very pure and focused, vibrant, fresh red fruits, lifted palate in a me body. I could say textbook, but think is better than that.

Transparent ruby. Cherries, red berries, spice, some fine leather. Very good acidity. Tannins still a little scratchy. Enters it’s accessible window. Drink now through 2027.

Deep ruby color. Slightly medicinal notes on the nose, cherry robitussin. Medium body, medium tannins, medium acid. Cherry on front with some woodsy notes mid-palate. A little bit syrupy and one dimensional. Fine.

This pours nicely light ruby in the glass with the faint hint of orange at the rim you'd expect from old oak aging. The nose is bright and expressive showing red cherry, dried cherry, red currant, rosemary, dry dusty soil, dry hay, faint whisps of balsamic, tar, and light touches of new leather. The palate enters on the bright red cherry fruit, turning to well managed medium tannin and medium acid. The finish lingers nicely on cherry pit, bright red fruit, tar and rosemary. All in all this is a lovely, more elegantly styled and red fruited Chianti. Very easy to appreciate now, but I could foresee a lovely aging curve here.

Sour cherry, tomato, some blue plum and dusty terracotta on the nose - Chianti bingo Palate moves more for the plum side of things but still balances ripeness and acidity. This is bang on in my view and great VFM. I have some 2016 riserva I might dig out now.

Mid ruby to bright crimson, the nose opens with savoury notes of polished leather, fly spray, tar that then reveals raspberry and morello cherry. More medium weight on the entry, the wine has firm, leather-edged texture with a lively acidity, linear in palate shape with sour cherry, dried orange segments, chalk dust, tar and a ferruginous quality to it. The wine sits up and whilst the tannins are fine they protrude through the generous alcohol (14.5) and the wine stays linear to the finish without really opening up its secrets. At this stage, it shows a little firm and unyielding almost lacking a little flesh. Would like to see how it ages with the rest of the case and the tannins resolve further.

Day 1 -Half of the bottle decanted for 3hrs, day 2 - consumed the rest and prefer it over day 1. Good clarity and focus, lifted red fruits mixed with variety of spices, lean and very pure in the mouth with the expected acidity. Really enjoyed it, top CC for me.

enjoyed at an informal dinner with friends so no formal notes. As expected, it was better with a bit of time in the glass but ticked all the boxes though - fresh with nice layer of fruit. Wasn't too high on acidity and was good on its own as an initial glass and was even better with food. Drink or hold

Splash decant. Deep ruby color with strong caramel notes on the nose. Medium-to-medium-light body with medium-low tannins and medium-plus acid. Very bright red-black fruits with a dark sweet and almost syrupy core that got better with air. Perfectly enjoyable with some mid-week pasta, but not especially memorable.

Drank at La Quercia. This was a very nice young Chianti that was on the rich side. Lots of earthy black cherry and spice.
It just needs time. Not a great buy in Vancouver.
