Tuesday, April 18, 2023 - Subsequent notes on this wine from close to 9 years ago. Dark ruby red in color with some clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of matured ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of floral notes of violets & earthy/dusty notes, cocoa, spices, dried herbs, minerals, leather, cedar & hints of oak/vanilla in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, matured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & mulberries with spices, herbs, cocoa, minerals & a hint of oak. Long lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing. At 22 years of age, it is close to or at its peak of development. Although it should hold here for a few more years, any further development from additional aging may be minimal. Fill was at mid-neck; cork was clean & intact. A wonderful example of an aged Brunello.
