Sunday, June 11, 2023 - Given the ripeness and alcoholic heat of 2020 Fleurie, pulled this out to check if this was similar. Thankfully, it's not. Decanted. Now 2h after decant. Aromas of ripe, jolly rancher red cherries, some bubblegum, minerals, herbs, and a bit of bark and earth. Palate w cool, ripe red and black cherries, unripe blueberries, a bit of bubblegum, herbs, bark, minerals and a hint of earth. Nice acids on a med-full body. Nice finish of fruit and herbs. Excellent depth and complexity as usual. As the wine warms, there is some alcoholic heat but not nearly as much as the Fleurie. Also, the body, while certainly bigger than in nonsolar yrs, not nearly as big as the Fleurie. Still with the ripeness and alcoholic heat, not a great rendition of this. 88+
