95 Points

Tuesday, June 20, 2023 - Opened this after tasting the 2018 and made a late decision to taste them both together. Drinking youthfully but excellent right now. About 1 hour of air initially. Very bright dark blue and black fruit, tannins present but adding texture, long finish. On day one this had more acid and freshness than the ‘18, although the tannins were not as luxuriously silky smooth. Overall about half a point better if I had to choose, but even that seems silly because both were lovely.
Day 2, interestingly, both wines were still excellent but almost indistinguishable. The tannins had smoothed and the freshness less obvious.
