Wednesday, July 5, 2023 - Opened in Palermo, Sicily this Tignanello clearly is going to be a great wine with some maturing. The aromatic nose was packed with fruit - black cherry, blueberry with hints of strawberry and balsamic. The palette felt as if it was lacking some integration as bright red cherries were overshadowed by spices, tobacco, vanilla and earthiness that are yet to be fully integrated with the fruit. With very light oak on the finish and grippy tannins this is a 92 right now, but could emerge as a 95-96 point wine down the line. Eager to revisit in 2-3 years time.
