Tuesday, August 22, 2023 - Double-decanted around two hours before drinking, which was fortunate as it contained a lot of sediment and was robustly tannic. The nose was gorgeous from the off, though, energetic and sensual with graphite, smoke, cedar and the woody vestiges of the wine's elevage. Even after two hours being open the wine remained fairly taut and coiled on the palate, its character dark-toned, mineral and refreshing (12.8% ABV), the fruit nicely concentrated and the tannins playing a (prominent) supporting role. Great stuff, likely better still in five years.
