Wednesday, September 13, 2023 - Smoke, old wood, violet petals, ripe blackberry, ripe black currant, cinnamon, allspice, dark chocolate and dried hot chili pepper on the nose. The bone dry palate shows more red fruits instead of dark fruits, especially ripe red cherries and ripe raspberries. It also adds secondary flavors of tobacco and vanilla while keeping the smoke from the nose. Finally, there's a crispness throughout the palate that is uncharacteristic of red blends from SLO/Paso; and really balances this out. It makes this wine actually feel fresh. For a region that has comitted so many over-extracted, RS-drenched crimes in the name of "red blends", that alone is impressive.

Medium + body with medium - tannin and medium acid. I think this is ready to drink right now at age 4. It really won't benefit from any further aging. Overall, I am happy with this for what it is. Again, there are a lot of $30 red blends from Paso that just plain anger me.
