Saturday, November 11, 2023 - WineEP Etna lunch (Terra Rossa): Sourced from vines in Biancavilla, on Etna's southwest slope between 700-800m, and in Belpasso, on the southern slope between 600-700m, IDDA Bianco is 100% Carricante vinified and aged in a combination of stainless steel and 10hl barrels. Immediately inviting, with a lovely, creamy honeysuckle-infused nose. Very tempting on the palate too, with plenty of yellow/green fruit, a touch of vanilla on the finish, and a creamy, approachable texture that betrays the oak maturation. It did seem to tauten and become stonier with time in the glass, but this wine had less of the steely minerality I'm used to from Carricante grown on the northern slopes. Still a lovely start to proceedings, though.
