Sunday, November 26, 2023 - A dark black red hue. Some signs of aging. An open bouquet on the nose. Perfumed cassis, black berries, and violet floral notes. Also some darker savory spices, licorice, leather and (maybe?) chocolate notes. Mature. On the palate, this has great energy with notes of dark berry fruit, spice, and integrated but still quite penetrating acidity and tannins. Great structure but mature and well balanced at this point. This is really excellent with a concentrated, sappy, and electric midpalate and a long, lingering fruit and spice filled finish. Good minerality, which I don’t usually associate with CA Cab. Reminds me of many top Pauillac wines in riper years. I would say near peak right now, but has the stuffing to last another decade+ if desired. This was much more impressive than the last bottle I tasted.
