Wednesday, December 27, 2023 - A solid village that showcases Gevrey's power but maybe not its finesse.

The nose is filled with black currant, black cherry and a mild earth aroma. Palate is nicely structured with more primary dark fruits although there is hints of over oak and a woody / austere finish that still needs to be resolved here. This seems to have more alcohol than its 13% label would suggest as it was strong even in the nose. Confirmed the high alcohol on the finish with somewhat jagged tannins and almost wood bark finish. This was quite nice as a daily drinker/party wine and paired well with beef tenderloin.
