Monday, January 1, 2024 - A serious Meursault that touches grand cru quality. Some evolved straw color, but the core is still brilliant. Fantastic nose where a succulent fruit in the vein of peach, some pineapple, and some yellow plums is balanced by fresh citrus tones and a mineral, iron tone. Full bodied attack, beautiful balance between sweet fruit and acidity on the mid palate. Fine acidity lift the finish into a long aftertaste where spice tones (vanilla, cardamom) adds even more complexity. Very long. This wine is perfect to drink now, but will clearly age positive for the next decade, and will probably be interesting to follow on its way down over the next decade for those who like old white burgundies. We drank it with lobster bisque with large chunks of perfectly boiled lobster, and it was a match made in heaven.
