Saturday, January 20, 2024 - I had the 2015 2 years ago and really couldn't wait to find more of this wine. I gave the 2015 97 points and had really high hopes for this one. To me the 2017 was a touch more tannic, the oak shows a bit less and the fruit is a tad less pronounced. But it's still a great expression of Rioja. Dark red color, vanilla and cherries on the nose. The 15 had a strong roasted coconut smell which everyone loved, this one didnt have it or it just wasnt as obvious. The palate made me realize that this needs some age to improve. Red and black fruits, a lot of oak influence and a touch of dill. I'd give this one 3 more years at the minimum before opening another bottle. I'll have to revisit the 2015 to see if it's still as amazing as I remember.
