  • I like it but I’m not sure it lives up to the hype. I had Lanciano in the past as good or better than this one.

  • Mildly corked which is interesting given the synthetic closure. Insanely and absurdly heavy bottle.

  • Quite a treat. Fruity but not jammy, with bright showings of tart cherry and stone fruit. Luscious mouthfeel that highlights the vanilla of the oak pleasantly. I get a lot of herbs, too--thyme, tarragon, and (as one other reviewer suggested) a touch of dill. White pepper (and maybe the slightest hint of CURRY?) down the middle and through the finish. I like my Tempranillo smokier, but this is delicious.

  • I had the 2015 2 years ago and really couldn't wait to find more of this wine. I gave the 2015 97 points and had really high hopes for this one. To me the 2017 was a touch more tannic, the oak shows a bit less and the fruit is a tad less pronounced. But it's still a great expression of Rioja. Dark red color, vanilla and cherries on the nose. The 15 had a strong roasted coconut smell which everyone loved, this one didnt have it or it just wasnt as obvious. The palate made me realize that this needs some age to improve. Red and black fruits, a lot of oak influence and a touch of dill. I'd give this one 3 more years at the minimum before opening another bottle. I'll have to revisit the 2015 to see if it's still as amazing as I remember.

  • Agree with Oedis 5.15.2023 review. This improves with several hours in the decanter (4+hrs). The rich aftertaste needs air but this is a finely crafted wine. The bottle is really heavy. Even when it is empty, it feels full. Liked it so much I bought a case. $59.

  • Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim and medium intensity.

    Full bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.

Showing black and red fruits with tobacco, cedar, vanilla, leather, earth, chocolates, tobacco, spices and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Tempranillo from Rioja. Nicely balanced and still very young, although it is a 6-year-old wine.

I had the 2011 a couple of years ago and loved it too.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food.

A blend of 91% Tempranillo and 9% Graciano. Aged in new French oak barrels for 25 months. Made only in special vintages, a few times per decade.

    14% alcohol by volume.

    92 points.

    $65.
