Friday, March 1, 2024 - I do just love the wines from Stella di Campalto. In my mind there is no comparison for the Brunello made here, vintage after vintage they are in a league of their own. 2015 was a hot vintage, in this wine that heat is expressed through it's incredible intensity and the sweetness and ripeness of the fruit which reminds me of very old vintage port. There is leather and wild berries, and an array of florals and fresh herbs which takes you right to Tuscany. What really sets this apart, however, is that it is ethereal - weightlessness and intense power which are in absolute harmony. This finesse is only found in the very best wines in my experience.
