Saturday, March 2, 2024 - Retail $60. 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 20% Meunier, 5% Arbanne, Petit Meslier, and Fromenteau. Disgorged July, 2023. Paid $45 at H-E-B. This has long been a favorite of mine not just for the quality but also for the fact that it includes three of the four "other" grapes allowed in Champagne but no one ever uses (the fourth, I believe, is Pinot Blanc). Tart pear with a hint of lemon rind on the nose, along with yeasty croissant and a slight mineral aspect. Whoa. The palate is pretty fantastic with plenty of green pear, Granny Smith apple, a distinct salinity, and an artful acidity. For around forty-five bucks? Yeah, this should be a staple of any champagne stable. 92 Points.
