Sunday, March 3, 2024 - Leaf Day - fill to bottom of neck. Cork sound with little ingress. Double decanted off a small amount of sediment. Opaque dark garnet core extending to almost the edge with a very thin browning rim. Nose (in a Riedel Pinot Noir glass) is damp loam, old leather, mushroom, dried red flowers, potpourri and dark fruit. The palate is supple with still some ripe and resolved tannins and medium acidity. The flavours are rich and warming with spice, ripe black fruit, mushroom, supple leather and plum leaning but not yet to prune richness. The finish is long with the spice, black fruit, plum/prune and leather continuing. A mature bottle of wine still showing beautifully.
