Friday, March 8, 2024 - Open in the bottle for about three hours. Nose is quite poopy at first but eventually that blows off to reveal…not much. A little smoke, some mushrooms, generally very earthy. Palate is nice, initially full with some ripe plums and black cherry cola. The mid-palate has some nice umami notes, sautéed mushrooms and a hint of roasted tomatoes but the finish is more like a cherry pit and plum skins, a little thin and bitter, which is less than ideal for me. Hard to tell what the story here is. Maybe I’ll wait a while on my next bottle in hopes that it’s just in a weird spot now but I’m not holding my breath.
