Nose is smokey and earthy with ripe cherries and brambles. Palate has more of that charred earth action with raspberries and blackberries and a nice leafy greenness, almost veering into green olive territory. Crisp acidity, lifted violet notes, very juicy. Not super complex but right in my wheelhouse, especially with that smokey olivey thing.

Nose is rich, almost boozy, with peaches, watermelon, blood orange. Palate is full-bodied with dill, watermelon rind, something spicy almost like red pepper flakes and a bitterness that is refreshing. Good acidity; juicy but not sharp. Still the best rose you can buy but this wasn’t my favorite vintage.

Open in the bottle for a couple of hours. With the air, the nose is rounding out with earthy notes on top of dark cherries, blackberry leaves and the smell of rocks cracking against each other (not exactly flinty but something like that). Palate is also earthy with soy sauce umami notes (in a good way) and bright crunchy cherries and cranberries. If rubies (the gemstones) had a taste I think they would taste like this. It’s a little oaky on the finish but there is really nice fruit and acid balance so I think it may just need another year or two to integrate. Awesome energy here. Much better with food (in my case a sweet potato and mushroom risotto) than without.
