Wednesday, March 20, 2024 - In my opinion, a wine that's out of this world, with an intense ruby red color. The first impression on the nose is intense, fruity with cherry, currant, blackberry, forest fruits, and a just-bloomed violet, incredibly clean. I didn't immediately notice the complexity that gradually unfolds. There's a lovely note of sweet spices like vanilla, and also piquant ones like white pepper. A beautiful toasted note of licorice and cigar box. On the palate, it's dry, enveloping with a tannin that accompanies without ever overshadowing, very fresh. It has a body that's not too imposing, but elegant. The persistence is clear. Definitely refined and harmonious. I paired it with a horse steak, a harmonious but not perfect pairing; the wine's persistence and firmness call for a dish that's slightly more aromatic or spiced to match its long finish.
