Sunday, March 31, 2024 - I am often disappointed with Pontet Canet and this time was no different. Read some nice reviews so I bought a couple bottles. Decanted around an hour and drank slow. Nose was very nice. Typical Paulliac with cassis, graphite and some black fruits. Palate was almost dead. Nothing in the middle and kind of aggressive acid on the finish. Maybe needs more time? Feel like this wine is over hyped, commanding almost second growth money, but I am usually not impressed. I actually like 06 Bordeaux but not this one.

4/2/2024 10:30:00 PM - I don’t disagree with your assessment of the 06 PC. I have had two bottles that also were just Meh. However the 09,10 & 16’s have all been really good. Maybe it’s just the 06 was not one of their stellar vintages.

4/4/2024 7:05:00 AM - Yes the 05 was also completely underwhelming. As well as the 2000 which is one of my favorite bdx vintages.

4/6/2024 12:28:00 AM - I've had good to very good experiences (blind) with the 02, 03 and the 05, which was the best PC I've tasted up till now. In all fairness, the last time I tasted a PC was 4 years ago (02 and 03). So, there you go, YMMV
