Tuesday, April 30, 2024 - Subsequent notes on this wine from about 5 years ago. Medium reddish ruby in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & figs with overtones of floral notes of roses & earthy/dusty notes, tar, leather, tobacco, mushrooms, minerals, spices, herbs & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe red fruit flavors of cherries, strawberries & mulberries with herbs, cola, minerals & spices. Long lingering finish. Drinks well at present with extended airing but at 17 years of age, it is approaching its peak of development. Although it should hold here for several more years, I doubt any further development would occur. This wine has improved over the years & is quite an overachiever in light of its original price! Fill was in neck; cork was clean and intact.
