Monday, December 21, 2009 - Very little signs of age with a dark purple core. The nose was a wonderful mix of ripe cherry, leather, tobacco, and cassis. The palate was framed by acid and aged flavors, sour cherries, earth and tobacco. The bottle aged flavors and complexity in this wine were stronger than the fruit. For this reason I feel this would really appeal to fans of a well aged claret. The finish came off as short but firm and worked with dinner. Overall the aged nuances of a lighter weight cab from napa when opened at the right time is a wonderful thing. Considering that this a single bottle was sitting on a shelf at my LWS it was in great shape and showed very well.
