Monday, March 1, 2010 - I was thrilled to find this one at Costco here, but I would caution that it needs some serious air before becoming pleasant. Popped and poured, this wine is inky purple/black and possesses considerable weight on the palate. The tannins were just dominant at first and felt as if they were attacking my tongue. After about 45 minutes, the wine calmed down a bit and offered dark fruits, a noticeable gamey quality, and a spicey finish. After a year or two this wine might show more, but right now it's very primary. That is not to say that it isn't a fantastic QPR and a real pleasure to drink.***1/2
