Effusive notes of berry, leather, tobacco and the sort-of-aged-wood-that-I-can't-exactly-describe note that I find in so many aged riojas. On the palate it had a roundness and silkiness that created a medium body. Understated fruit, surprising given the vintage. Although seamlessly integrated, the acidity was a bit pronounced given the fruit. I think I was expecting riper fruit given the vintage and that may have led to some disappointment. It also might become great with a couple more years in the bottle. I'll try again with the remaining wine tomorrow night. On the second night, the acidity did remain a bit pronounced.
