Wednesday, February 2, 2011 - First time experience with this wine. Wine was drunk over 2 days. Opened and poured. The wine was as dark as night -- looking more like an '06 Napa cab -- and I was anticipating some explosive fruit out of the glass. Nope. This bottle showed a lot of restraint. It took a minute or two of serious swirling to get some cherry, cocoa, and a bit of licorice on the nose. On the palate, the fruit was mostly blackberries, oak, and tobacco. Again, the flavors were restrained. Medium-bodied. Tannins were nicely integrated. I prefer the '00 Langoa Barton at this stage.
