Monday, February 28, 2011 - Quite a disappointment considering all the hype over the 2009 vintage. Visually I was stoked, because just two weeks ago I had the 2007 vintage of the same wine and was blown away. This wine was much darker and cloudier in appearance. The nose was almose undetectable initially. Upon the last two glasses at the two hour mark, red fruits emerged led by cherry and cranberry. Structually the wine is pitch perfect. A touch of fruit on the tip of the tongue, noticible tannin along the mid-palate and a good acid bath to clean up the relatively lengthy finish. Maybe a decant was in order. And this is really good Gamay. I just had high expectations considering my experience with the '07.
