Saturday, March 12, 2011 - Started drinking about 30 minutes after opening. No visual signs of age. Cassis and freshly ground coffee on the nose. Cassis, coffee, red licorice, and a little smoke on the palate. Somewhat thin body and abrupt finish, although the fruit lingered, finishing with a touch of sweetness and, finally, firm tannins. After another 30 minutes, it began to really open up. It became more seamless from nose to finish, the fruit profile darkened to plums and black licorice, and it showed a much fuller, velvety texture and a lengthier finish.
