Sunday, June 12, 2011 - To say a Chianti tastes like a Brunello is a complement. To say a Brunello tastes like a Chianti, well that is not a good thing. Color was very light with that reddish brown you see in Sangiovese, even when young. On the nose was the sour cherries but I did not detect any earthiness that I look forward to in a BdM. On that palate this wine was tart with rough tannins. Maybe it was too young but not impressed at this price. This was shipped during a heat wave so I suspect some heat damage.
