Sunday, July 17, 2011 - Still very dark in color--looks very young. Dark, ripe red and black fruit on the nose; a bit of licorice; at first there seemed to be a whiff of Brett but that quickly went away. Aromas seem as primary as the color. Dark berry liqueur-like in the mouth, with a still-hefty jolt of tannins. Not roasted or overdone. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems a tad simple. A good wine though not as complex as I might have expected--my expectations may have been too high. Perhaps it's still too young.
