Monday, September 12, 2011 - Drank from 375 after 3 hour decant. Good front and mid palate, not a big finish. Wine almost seemed a little shut down. Inky purple (no browning) but tannins seemed to be gone. By color it seemed to be very youthful. My hope is the wine is just going through a "dumb" stay and will emerge soon. Very nice and appealing nose with classic merlot based wine characteristics. Had with a 99 Monbousquet. After first glass I blended some of the Monbousquet and the combination made a much more appealing wine. The Monbousquet had very gripping tannins.
