Friday, September 23, 2011 - 12% abv and 8g of sugar wine made from grapes from different parcels in the Rheingau. Nose is relatively simple, with apple, honey, cirus fruit and stony minerality. Mouth is very clean but has concentration which is enhanced by a feeling of off-dryness (although it is labeled trocken (<9g/l sugar)). It is of the style of Weingut Robert Weil to produce rounder, more perfumed, sweeter tasting than most in the Rheingau and never austere wines - this is a typical example. Acidity is high nevertheless although body is just medium. Finish was slightly bitter and phenolic.
