Friday, October 21, 2011 - I meant to open the 2000 Vieux Donjon, not the 2000 Vieux Telegraphe, yet this was great. Seems more resolved than a bottle earlier this year, showing a mix of red and black fruits, pepper and iodine. Not as much seaweed/nori notes as one might find in Telegraphe, but the iodine is towards that element. The palate is cohesive, smooth around the sides and showing its age, yet there is still plenty of fortitude here, as well as fruit, to keep developing in the cellar. No degradation over night after pouring half the bottle in a .375 and sealing it. Another 2000 Chateauneuf that is showing very well presently, and this one adds class and uniqueness.
