Thursday, April 19, 2012 - This is the 7th bottle I've had from this case... What strikes me most about this wine is its balance... In general I am very fond of the 2001 in Napa. Generally, they have good structure and are just entering their prime time drinking window and the Mondavi reserve is an archetype of the vintage. Great black fruit, a little licorice and spice, medium to full bodied, sweet but structured tannins- to me, it's a complete wine- goes great with a 40 day dry aged bryan's California reserve strip steak... Seriously yummy.

I think with high end napa cabs, I'm liking 9-12 years of age, splash decant, and slightly higher than cellar temperature (low 60s) - that's where I'm at
