Monday, February 11, 2013 - My, this is really good, and open, and drinking exceptionally well right now. Pretty garnet red with nearly clear meniscus (guess that's the nebb). Raspberry is the strongest note I identify on the nose & palate, but it's definitely part of a harmonious chorus which also includes some things like a bit of leather and just a hint of earthy decomposing leaves (in a good way). I'm more confident in saying it drinks like what it is: it's clearly sun-kissed California fruit, clearly made by someone with more old-world sensibilities, and it's absolutely earthy yet delicate-bodied Nebbiolo joined by Barbera with its acidic thonk. It was fantastic with moussaka, and it's still enjoyable on night two with popcorn. Among my favorites I've tried from Sunce, along with a Merlot (Wild Hare Vyd) and a Pinot. Wouldn't mind having another few bottles.
