88 Points

Thursday, April 25, 2013 - I don't know what the fuss is all about. I find this wine rather weak compared to the other offerings from Janasse especially the Terre d'Argile which can be had for $18-25. Nose has over ripe plums, moss, and mud. In the mouth plums and cherries dominates with hints of fresh flowers and vanilla to follow. Tannins are velvety. Finishes moderately long.

It's hard to fault this wine but it's not as fruit forward as the Terre d'Argile at half the price and not as complex as the Vielles Vignes with the crazy RP99 and 100 point scores. In a blind tasting I would have guess it's the least expensive of the 3 offerings and peg it the $20 wine. All the more reason to drink what you like and not pay attention to the label, price, or scores.

4/25/2013 8:06:00 AM - I abosutely agree. Being a fan of Janasse, I deleted the standard CdP from my shopping list. Interestingly the Terre D'Argile (for half the price of a CdP) will be sold in wooden boxes (á 12) whereas the regular CdP is sold in regular cardboard boxes of 6. Maybe this indicates the priority of the winery. However, I am not unhappy with this as I really like the Terre D'Argile.
