96 Points

Tuesday, June 25, 2013 - Bud's 70th at Ortega Fish Shack (Ortega Fish Shack, Wellington, New Zealand): This looks like a ten year old bordeaux, although the huge American oak derived nose brings one to Spain in a hurry. Fabulous aromatics that feature in addition to the aforementioned oak, blackcurrants, coconut, cedar and warm dried herbal nuance. The palate is exquisite - very reminiscent of first growth bordeaux in proportion and structure. Still youthful and capable of aging for 20 more years (at least), I think this is a ear profound wine that is without doubt a compelling example of Unico. This will get better but is flirting with the extraordinary right now. 96+ points.
