Tuesday, July 2, 2013 - Really not a bad pinot offering from Gap's Crown - this wine isn't quite as high octane as the Sojourn Gap's, but it really has a lot of character. The wine was decanted for about an hour. Ruby red color in the glass with a slightly murky appearance. The wine had a nice odor of fig, bing cherry, and cinnamon spice. The palate showed a vibrant younger wine that had a lot of youth yet was showing integration with alcoholic bing cherry and some darker cinnamon and allspice that was very apparent in the middle and mixed nicely with the fruit bouquet. The finish was rather quick, showed a little alcohol. Not very tannic, very vibrant finish. Nice wine, but glad I have two more Sojourn Gap pinots as this one really has the advantage over this offering from Vivier. I would drink this one and be very happy if someone offered it. Drink now or hold 1 or 2 years.
