93 Points

Tuesday, October 15, 2013 - Fairly strong cheesey, waxy and woody aromas blow off after half an hour to reveal a pure, austere, very detailed and nuanced lemon rind, bitter white peach kernal palate. Great salinity, minerality, and just the right amount of pure, secondary, balancing and crystalline fruit. Spectacular, in an understated way. Just barely beginning its run, this has another decade at least and actually seems to be evolving at a glacial pace, given my last note two years ago. I didn't like this after my last bottle or the first hour or so of this one, and even thought of passing on my remaining stash, but now these feel like gems to hoard. Impressive - an Alzinger Riesling Steinertal of a Chablis. 93pts pure quality, 94pts personal preference
