90 Points

Sunday, June 10, 2007 - (Actually 89.5, but I can't do decimals) Great round mouthfeel! I actually had this after a long car ride down from Jersey, so I placed the bottle in an icewater bath and it actually got COOLER as I drank it. At room temperature, the tannins aren't there, so it's overwhelmingly (but not in a bad way!) fruity! Cherry is the overwhelming fruit involved in the aromas and flavors. Also hints of cranberry and blueberry, which returned to more balanced flavors as it cooled down. They were no longer "sweet cherries" but not quite sour cherries either -- almost like Granny Smith Cherries, the perfect combination of sweet and tart, which is probably why I also had the cranberry notes. As it chilled, the tannins came out, helping to balance the wine and turn it away from something that's just fruit into a stronger wine with more structure and flavor profile. Serve this one a few degrees cooler than you might think if you want the tannins like I do.

This wine is AN ABSOLUTE STEAL for $11. Wonderful QPR, so I am ordering a case right now (or as soon as I finish writing this). I suggest you do the same before it's all gone. Gary Vaynerchuk was not kidding when he called this THE entry-level Petite.
